Misconception Two – Catching up on sleep at the weekend

Can you really catch up on sleep at the weekend?

This is one of the top misconceptions that people ask me about.

If you are lacking sleep during the week for various reasons, it is so tempting to stay in bed for longer at the weekend and maybe even have a couple of naps during the day as well.

Both of these will give you a small boost of more energy, no doubt about that. Especially at the weekend when you are probably planning to do all the fun things that your day doesn’t allow during the week due to work or business commitments.

In this video I provide a bit of an explanation of what happens when you sleep in for longer and why it is not going to actually help you to overcome your sleep problems including insomnia.

I know it is very tempting, especially if you feel tired all the time.

It is not fun to be sleep deprived, I know, but equally you can make things worse by choosing to separate your weekdays from your weekend.

(Note: if you are working shifts, your situation will be a very different. But still, it doesn’t mean that there is nothing you can do about it).
